Tema Youth Force Hearts Of Oak To 1-1 Draw

Accra Hearts of Oak and Tema Youth played out a 1-1 drawn game in their Week One clash of the 2012/2013 Premier League on Wednesday at the Tema Park. The Phobians came from behind to hold the Tema lads in the encounter that wraps up the opening day matches of the season. The match rescheduled due to the contribution of five players by Tema Youth to the Black Satellites squad that played Morocco in an African Youth Championship qualifier over the weekend lived up to billing with both sides selling out a spirited output. Both teams ended the game with 10-men each in the encounter headlined by some 'questionable' officiating by FIFA referee Samuel K. Gyasi. Watched by an expectant crowd dominated by Hearts of Oak faithfuls, it was the Phobians who really made threats at goal despite Tema Youth having the upperhand in possession. On two occasions, Hearts of Oak duo, Prince Attakora Gyimah and Edward Affum failed to break the deadlock after being put through on the quarter-hour mark and eight minutes later. The turning point of the game was on 39 minutes when Francis Narh scored the opener, weaving his way past Hearts goalie Sammy Adjei before firing into the net. Left-back Seth Owusu, who incurred the anger of the Hearts of Oak supporters for his sluggish start improved his game in the second half, which reflected in the teams output in attack. Their efforts paid dividends five minutes into the half when Attakora Gyimah leveled from a through ball from Owusu. On 73 minutes, Tema Youth suffered a numerical blow after midfielder Derek Boateng was sent off after a second bookable offence. Hearts kept the hosts defence boiling with several onslaughts but the winner remained elusive. With the game certain for a stalemate, substitute James Abban was shown the red card for an off-the-ball incident on a Tema Youth player. GNA
