UT Bank Partners Global Media Alliance To Fight Against Breast Cancer

UT Bank, an indigenous financial institution, is partnering Global Media Alliance, mother company of e.tv Ghana and Happy FM to raise 150,000 Ghana cedis in support of the fight against breast cancer in Ghana. Breast Cancer, is a malignant tumour in the glandular tissues of the breast and is the most common cancer in women and the leading cause of cancer deaths among women, claiming almost half a million lives every year. Thus, worldwide, the month of October is reserved yearly to create awareness and garner support for the fight against Breast Cancer. The Pledge Pink Breast Cancer Month in Ghana is being led by UT Bank with support from Happy 98.9 FM. Statistics available indicate that about six percent of Ghanaian women diagnosed with breast cancer have the most aggressive triple negative type, a type shown Fifty percent or more of Ghanaians with breast cancer report to hospital with advanced diseases. The disease can be treated if detected early. However, only 25 per cent of people affected report to health centers at its early stage. Globally, efforts have been made to help deal with the challenge. In Ghana, the Pink Ball, which is in its third year, would be used to reaffirm Ghana�s pledge in campaigning against the disease by creating awareness about prevention and management. Activities lined up for this year�s pink month include a walkathon and a pink ball aimed at raising 150,000 Ghana cedis in support the fight against Breast Cancer.
