Maidens Return From Historic World Cup�To Meet Prez Mahama Today

The Black Maidens have arrived from Azerbaijan after collecting bronze at the just ended Women�s U-17 World Cup. The entire squad touched down at the Kotoka International Airport on Monday evening and was met on arrival by a delegation led by the Sports Minister Hon. Clement Kofi Humado and Ghana FA President Kwesi Nyantakyi. Welcoming the Maidens,Hon. Humado in his speech said the entire nation was grateful to them and enjoyed their spectacular performance and display at the tournament. �On Behalf of His excellency the President of the Republic of Ghana, His excellency John Dramani Mahama and the good people of Ghana, I wish to welcome you all the Black Maidens, the technical team and the management team back home to Ghana�, he stated. �I can proudly say we�ve not been disappointed as Ghanaians, we�re happy with your performance. �We�re in touch with the Presidency to see what we can do for the Black Maidens�, he told the team. On his part the FA President Kwesi Nyantaki said the Black Stars though played on the same day against Malawi, they supported them and even had a section of their training programme deferred in other to cheer them up when they played France in the Semi-final. "On the day that you played France in the semi-final, incidentally your semi-final match coincided with the training programme for the Black Stars, and in other to provide the needed moral support the training programme for the Black Stars was deferred so that the players could watch your match and cheer you up. "I made frantic effort to even establish contact with the team, so some of the players could have pep talk with some of you", he stated. The Maidens beat Germany in the 3rd place match last Saturday to pick Bronze at the World Cup.
