Incumbency Can Help Mahama Win Dec. Polls - Rawlings

Former President Rawlings has once again endorsed President Mahama saying he has the advantage to win the December elections. In an interview with Citi FM ex President Rawlings said I believe John is capable of winning an election in his own right. Besides, he has the additional advantage of being in government. This is second time ex President Rawlings has endorsed President Mahama after he recently told the Volta Regional House of Chiefs in a meeting that the emergence of John Mahama has revived the electoral chances of the NDC and reduced the old fear and anxiety that hovered around the party prior to the death of President Mills. The founder of the ruling NDC government added that In the meantime, someone in this country has to show enough respect and pay our political debts to the women of Ghana, he added. Mr. Rawlings has in the last few days been criticized by a cross section of the public for openly endorsing the National Democratic Party and his wifes decision to contest the December polls as the flagbearer of that party. Others have stated that the former President faces possible expulsion from the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) if found culpable of infringing on its constitution. The leadership of the party has indicated that it would meet in the coming days to decide Mr Rawlings' fate, following his decision to attend the national delegates' congress of the NDP last Saturday.
