General Mosquitos Gods Burn NPP Van

Reports from NDC General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketiah aka General Mosquitos hometown, Seikwa in the Brong Ahafo region say gods of the land are believed to have burnt an NPP van in protest at the breaching of a ban on noisemaking prior to the annual yam festival. Electrical equipment in one of the campaign vans is said to have caught fire in front of the Seikwa palace when the NPP entourage led by flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo arrived in the town as part of a campaign tour of the region. Some residents in the area have interpreted this incident as a sign of protest from the gods. They told Adom News prior to the celebration of the yam festival a ban is placed on noise making but the announcement van breached the ban by blurting out Nana Addos campaign song. However, the NPP chairman for the Tain constituency, Haruna Tashiru denies the allegations, explaining that the campaign team totally respects the traditions of every area and only visited the palace after the chiefs and elders had granted them permission. He said though they are aware of the ban preceding the yam festival, the chiefs approved of their visit to the town after rituals to seek the permission of the gods, thereby granting permission to enter the town. Meanwhile, Mr. Tashiru insists the NPP van did not catch fire but a generator on it suffered a minor fault which emitted smoke. He disclosed that the van is still being used.
