Prez Mahama To Lay Out Healthcare Policy At IEA Encounter Today

President Mahama will today (Thursday) speak to the National Democratic Congress policy on healthcare, education and energy when he takes his turn at the IEA evening encounter. This will be the first time a sitting president is submitting to such an event. The NDC had earlier declined to participate in the IEA following earlier conventions where sitting presidents abstain. But the party changed its decision after the demise of president Mills. A statement signed by the presidential spokesperson said: "The NDCs philosophy is people-centred. This will be highlighted in governments success story in the areas of Health, Education and Social Protection. The President will touch on the commitment in our Manifesto for construction of new Regional Hospitals, Polyclinics and other health facilities." It said: "President Mahama will speak on the GH150million funding for the implementation of the National HIV/AIDS Strategic Plan. He will take the opportunity to reiterate the partys commitment to quality education and accessible education for all not free for some." President Mahamas presentation will therefore hinge on the four pillars of the NDCs 2012 manifesto: Putting People First, A Strong And Resilient Economy for Jobs, Expanding Infrastructure and Transparent and Accountable Governance. President Mahama is also expected to present his nomination forms at 10 oclock this morning.
