NDP Volta Region Group Back To NDC

A group claiming to be part of executives of the National Democratic Party (NDP) in the Volta Region on Thursday said it was rejoining the National Democratic Congress (NDC). If today His Excellency, the Former President of the Republic of Ghana, Mr Jerry John Rawlings, also the founder of the NDC, remains a member of the said party, we dont see the need of being dissidents, a five-point statement made available to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) stated. The four signatories to the statement are Emmanuel Ashigbui, Interim Volta Vice-Chairman of the NDP, Nathan Atto, said to be a Security Coordinator at the Regional Secretariat and Stanley Aggor, Ho-Central Constituency Chairman. The rest are Reginald Akpalu, Keta Consituency Chairman and Abraham Nenem, Ketu South. The statement said the current leaders of the NDP were unrepresentative of the members since they were not duly elected and therefore did not reflect the image of the Party. It said the formation of the NDP, although a good gesture has been synchronized into rage and a meaningless endeavour since there is a high sense of ungratefulness. The statement also criticized the fact that the position of the flagbearer of the party was not contested. It said the political scene had changed and it is obvious that His Excellency the President of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama has brought a new hope to the National Democratic Congress and to Ghana as a whole The NDP at the press conference in Ho on Wednesday had described Mr Ashigbui as a mole who had failed to convince Volta Regional Party Executives to stage a dramatic defection from the Party with full media coverage. Dr David Sunu, NDP National Youth Organizer, flanked by Mr Tsekpo Senyo Bansah, Volta Regional Chairman, said he (Ashigbui) was estranged.
