Propaganda Wont Work In Navrongo

AS campaigning towards the December 7 general elections heat up, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Navrongo Central, Joseph Kofi Adda has cautioned Ghanaians especially those in his constituency to desist from actions that could lead to violent conflicts and loss of lives. This years election should be as peaceful as any other successful one the country has witnessed in the past. Violence will only worsen the harsh economic conditions many Ghanaians currently find ourselves in. The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is a peaceful and law abiding party and who ever associates with it, must do same for the sake of our countrys development, he said. Mr. Adda was addressing a cross section of youth at the Navrongro Town Park after returning his nomination form to the returning officer of the Electoral Commission, Kabu K. Tiire at the Kassena-Nankana East office. He said voters in Navrongo Central will compare the level of commitment of the NDC and the NPP towards the areas development and no amount of propaganda and lies by the ruling party will cause them to retain the NDC in power. Even in the early years of NPPs reign in office, there was the feeling that thing were getting better and things got better. Many people had sustainable jobs and benefited from some important social interventions which further lessened their burdens. We are in the fourth year since the NDC took over the governance of this country and yet people are complaining that things are not getting better. They say the Better Ghana Agenda is not for every Ghanaian, but NDC people and their families alone. In his view, voters in Navrongo have over the years become so discerning and sophisticated that propaganda and flattery will not move them. He said the people would vote for the candidate who was loyal enough to stand by them and help solve their problems. This is what I have always done, I have been close to the people and have not lorded my position as the Member of Parliament over the people and I am very sure they will vote for me once again to be in parliament, he said. After returning his parliamentary nomination forms, Mr. Adda, accompanied by a large number of NPP supporters and functionaries filed through the principal streets of Navrongo amidst drumming and singing, before calling on the representative of the Navro-Pio, where he received the blessings of the leaders of the palace for a successful election. At the end of the filing process in Navrongo, three registered political parties sailed through the NPP, NDC and Progressive Peoples Party. The Peoples National Convention is not contesting in Navrongo this year. It is not clear whether the party did not field a candidate or simply decided not to contest so as to join forces with the NDC against NPP.
