VEEP Assures Ghanaians Of Fiscal Discipline

Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur says government will continue to maintain fiscal discipline in order not to plunge the economy into what he called a political business cycle. He said governments over the years have been forced to over spend in election periods to fulfill pledges without adequate financial provision and to also counter opposition unrealistic promises. Vice President Amissah-Arthur said this when he addressed lecturers and students of the University of Development Studies, Tamale, to round off his tour of the Northern Region. He said the government has learnt its lessons and will not do anything to undermine the economic success chalked up. Vice President Amissah-Arthur said a single digit inflation rate is critical for every economy. He expressed his worry over comments by economists that single digit or lower inflation rate is not important.
