THE NATIONAL Democratic Congress (NDC) has stated that it will soon sanction it members who have breached the party�s constitution by defecting to different political parties or contesting as independent candidates in the December elections. Johnson Asiedu-Nketia, NDC General Sectary, mentioned that members who had decided to leave the NDC for other political parties like National Democratic Party (NDP) or contest as independent candidates would be immediately expelled from the NDC. Mr Asiedu-Nketia, who made this known when he addressed some supporters during campaign launch of Enoch Teye Mensah, the NDC parliamentary candidate for Ningo-Prampram, described the defected members as �ants�, noting that �ants cannot belong to the classification of ants when they grow wings; thereby they must be sacked�. According to him, there was a vast difference between a general and a boy scout, referring to the defected NDC members contesting the general elections on the ticket of different political parties as boy scouts who could not stand NDC members in elections. Aseidu-Nketia noted that the disqualification of the NDP�s presidential candidate, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, was as a result of �spiritual� dust blown into the eyes of the NDP executives by the late President Evans Atta Mills, resulting in the NDP�s inability to complete its nomination forms within the stipulated time. He believed that the late President Mills� spirit was still hovering around, supporting the NDC to win the forthcoming elections as well as giving the NDC the number one position on the ballot paper. Mr. Aseidu-Nketia also described the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as an untrustworthy party which could not fulfill its promises, calling for massive vote for the NDC in the coming December 2012 polls. He claimed that the NPP had nothing to show for the eight years it was in power, therefore Ghanaians should not be deceived by the NPP flagbearer�s free Senior High School (SHS) promise but strive for quality education. The Greater Accra Regional Minister and Member of Parliament for Kpone-Katamanso, Nii Laryea Afotey-Agbo, explained that the NDC government was committed to making education accessible and affordable; therefore the electorate should vote for the NDC. According to him, the Ningo-Prampram Constituency over the years had seen many developmental projects under the leadership of the E.T Mensah, adding that voting for the MP again would quicken development. Hon. E. T. Mensah, addressing the supporters after the launch, noted that the campaign launch was to boost the morale of the foot-soldiers to commit themselves to a vigorous campaign ahead of election 2012. He urged all members of the party to come out in their numbers on December 7 and vote for the NDC to remain in power to help improve the living standards of Ghanaians.
