Islamic Teachers Root For Nana

The leader of the Coalition of Islamic Education Units, Sheikh Issah Alhassan says they have learnt bitter lessons from the actions of some politicians. We take this opportunity to state that the era when an Arabic Instructor voted blindly simply because his or her family had long standing ties with a particular party will now be a thing of the past. He therefore urged his colleagues to reject politicians who do not present well-informed policy statements to the electorate. Sheik Issah Alhassan disclosed this during a meeting with the NPPs presidential candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. He noted that the encounter marked the beginning of a new era for the coalition, which wants realistic programmes that shall inure to the benefit of providers of Arabic education nationwide. We want to be convinced that Arabic Instructors shall no longer be treated as second-class citizens in their country of birth, he noted. He explained that the coalition would back any presidential candidate with convincing, development oriented and vision driven agenda. On his part, the former Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Mustapha Ali Idris, who could not hold back his tears, wondered why a laudable policy of putting Islamic Instructors on the National Volunteer Scheme was cancelled by the non-performing and incompetent NDC government. He challenged the coalition to organize a local version of the IEA debate to enable the NDC and NPP debate on their achievements in government. Alhaji Idris said the development of the north was a topmost priority for the NPP and Nana Akufo-Addo. If free SHS is not good why did President Mahama move from Achimota School to Ghana Secondary in Tamale, he quizzed. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo made a personal commitment to reconcile the people of Dagbon in the Northern region. He stated that the time has come for peace to be restored in Dagbon to address the numerous problems, saying, I want peace, I want reconciliation and I want to see peace in Dagbon again. The NPP flagbearer encouraged the people to vote for the NPP to promote peace and reconciliation in Dagbon as it remained one of his core objectives. He advised Islamic scholars to use their influence and status as leaders of the communities and scholars to point to our people that it is more important for us to think about the future than about the past because we can do something about the future and not the past.
