Hearts Are Spiritually Bankrupt - Amankwa Mireku

Ex-Hearts defender Amankwa Mireku has attributed the sides patchy run in the League to spiritual bankruptcy. The capital-based side have struggled to assert themselves in the top flight where they had to dig deep to record a hard-fought 3-2 win over Real Tamale United on Sunday. Coach CK Akunnor was axed from the club after supervising three successive defeats, a single win and a draw. The Phobians have also been decimated with major departures after long-standing administrative manager Ashford Tetteh Oku resigned from the club. The club is also without a substantive Chief Executive and a physical trainer with confidence dropping to an all-time low in the team. Mireku, who enjoyed a terrific ten-year spell at the club, claims the lack of spiritual backing has accounted for their woes. The problem in Hearts is huge. They are spiritually bankrupt and something drastic must be done, Mireku told Radio XYZ During our time, we placed a lot of emphasis on spirituality. We fasted and prayed before matches but obviously that is missing from the current set-up. Without God, there is nothing can achieve and so I will urge the authorities to take a second look at their spiritual situation. Hearts travel to Kumasi to face arch-rivals Asante Kotoko on November 18.
