IEA Reschedules Presidential Debate

The Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) has postponed the final presidential debate slated for tomorrow, November 20. In a press release issued this afternoon, it indicated that the postponement is to allow the five day national mourning set aside in honour of former Vice President Alhaji Alui Mahama to elapse. It has therefore fixed November 21st as the new date. Earlier, Hasan Ayariga said it will not attend the debate because he was still mourning the former Vice President. He, however, rescinded his decision not to participate in the debate saying he did not receive support from his opponents on his call for the postponement of the debate. Below is the full statement from the IEA Announcement of New Date Following the declaration of a five day national mourning period by the H.E. President for the late former Vice President, H.E.
