Ghana, World Bank Sign $105.5m Pact On Basic Education, PPP Project
The World Bank is providing an amount of $105.5 million to support Ghana in two areas � basic education and public private partnership.
The amount is made up of a $75.5 million grant facility from the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) and a $30 million credit from the International Development Association (IDA).
The agreement was signed November 22, 2012 by Ghana�s Finance Minister, Dr Kwabena Duffuor and the World Bank Country Director, Yusupha Crookes, the Ghana News Agency reported.
The $75.5 million grant will be used to improve basic education services at the levels of kindergarten, primary and junior high school in deprived districts while the $30 million IDA credit is expected to help the government�s effort in improving the legislative, institutional, financial, fiduciary and technical framework to generate a number of Public Private Partnership (PPP) project.
The two facilities would be managed by the World Bank, the GNA report said.
