Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah, ace broadcaster and host of Joy FM�s Super Morning Show has finally opened up on reports that he was violently accosted at the end of the second and final part of the Institute of Economic Affairs' Presidential Debate on Wednesday night. Mr Oppong-Nkrumah's name was drawn into the usual NDC and NPP political fray when he, after moderating the show, was allegedly approached in an aggressive and menacing manner by Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo, flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Interestingly, his co-moderator on that day, Prof. Jane Opoku Agyemang, was spared that alleged unfortunate experience. The ruling NDC party claims the NPP leader showcased his "violent" and "intolerable" character on the said night when he was captured by television camera lenses attempting to physically attack the Morning Show host for not allowing him a rebuttal after he (Nana Addo) had given his closing remarks. But he (Oppong) was timely spirited away before the wrath of the NPP could be unleashed on him. Indeed, Government, in the statement, condemned Nana Addo's alleged unprovoked attack on the debate moderators immediately after the debate saying it "indicated a regrettable intolerance on the part of Nana Akufo-Addo" which cannot be countenanced any longer. Speaking on Peace FM�s Midday news, Oppong-Nkrumah disclosed that the NPP leader did approach him as the candidates normally do, to shake hands with them, but this time Nana Addo expressed dissatisfaction at the fact that his request for a rebuttal was denied. He further revealed that he apologized to Nana Addo for not affording him that opportunity to rebut and promised to forward his grievances to the IEA Presidential debate committee. He said whether Nana Addo was angry or not will depend on the individual who was watching and has requested that his name be left out of any politicking. ��when he came to me, he said he was not happy that I didn�t give him the opportunity to correct the misconception. He said he wanted to correct what one of the candidates said which was not right. I explained to him that with the closing comments section, there are no rebuttals. He said he was not happy with it. People want to drag me into their politicking but what I am saying is that he just came to talk to me... I will plead with them to continue with their politics and leave me out of it�� he said.
