President Mahama Inaugurates Accident And Trauma Specialist Centre

President John Mahama has inaugurated an Accident and Trauma Specialist Centre at the Winneba Government Hospital in the Central Region. The Centre is expected to serve as a secondary referral hospital and centre of excellence for medical training and rescue. The facility is at the cost of eighteen point seven million euros (�18.7 million), seven point one million euros (�7.1million) being a grant from the Kingdom of Netherlands. President Mahama who took time off to inaugurate the Centre, as he rounded up his campaign of the region said government will stop at nothing to provide the country with quality and accessible healthcare. He asked staff to run the Center with all the required expertise to serve its purpose. The President was also grateful to the Netherlands government for the grant. The Medical Director at the Centre, Dr Richard Anongura, said the center, considering its location is strategically positioned to attend to many critical conditions. He however appealed to government for more personnel to be posted to the centre. The Accident and Trauma Specialist Centre has an Administration block, Out Patients Department, Theatre, Maternity Ward, Physiotherapy, Laboratory and a Mortuary. The center also has five Doctors Bungalows and twelve Nurses Flats.
