The University of Ghana has closed down its swimming pool as it awaits report on the death of a student who drowned in the pool last Saturday. A final year pharmacy student Newman Oduro drowned in the University�s swimming pool when he went there with his friends to bathe. He was fetched from the deepest part of the pool by guards who got alarmed by his relatively long presence beneath the water. The student was later pronounced death at the University Hospital. Speaking to XYZ News the registrar of the University, Joseph Maafo Budu expressed regret at the incident and said the University will issue an official statement on the development. Mr. Budu added that the facility has been closed down while investigations continue.
