A JUBILANT teenage supporter of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Sunyani and two other persons in Wa lost their lives on Sunday night when they took to the streets to celebrate the victory of the party ahead of the official declaration of the results. Ayuba Nyaaba, 17, died on the spot when a motor-king he and his colleagues were ridding crashed at Baakoneaba, a suburb of Sunyani at about 2:30pm on Sunday. The Deputy Brong Ahafo Regional Commander of the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) of Police, Teddy Damptey-Brown, who confirmed the incident to Daily Guide, said the motor rider, Felix Abodoo, also got injured in the process. According to ASP Damptey-Brown, there were three occupants on the motor-king when the incident happened as they were riding and demonstrating their agility on the main Baakoneaba-Sunyani road. ASP Damptey-Brown indicated that the motor unfortunately skidded off the road into a ditch, killing the boy on the spot and leaving the other occupants injured. The body has since been deposited at the Brong Ahafo Regional Hospital, Sunyani, pending autopsy. At Wa in the Upper West Region, two persons lost their lives on Sunday night as wild jubilation erupted after the declaration of President John Dramani Mahama as the winner of the December 7 presidential election. Saladeen Saana, a 30-year-old teacher, died when he was knocked down by a mini bus loaded with NDC supporters who were celebrating. The bus that was being driven by Yakubu Wahab, 21, knocked down Saana, who was going to buy medicine at a pharmacy in Kabanye, a suburb of Wa. Abdul Rahaman, 18, also died when he was knocked down by an unidentified motorist. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Joseph Oppong, Upper West Regional Commander of the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit, confirmed these to the GNA in Wa on Monday. DSP Oppong said Saana and Rahaman were pronounced dead shortly on arrival at Wa Government Hospital and their bodies had been deposited at the mortuary. The Regional Police Commander said the driver of the bus was arrested. John Calls For Support President John Mahama has called on all candidates of various political parties in the country to join him as partners in building the nation. He made this call barely 24 hours after the Electoral Commission boss, Dr. Kwadwo Afari-Gyan, declared him winner of the December 7 presidential polls. President Mahama urged the other candidates to co-operate to build the nation. �There is much work to be done and the issues and challenges that face our nation have no allegiances, they cut across lines of political affiliations, religious and ethnic background, social class and regional location. Indeed, they affect all of us,� stated the President. Addressing hundreds of jubilant supporters at the NDC jubilee rally yesterday in Accra, President Mahama said, �We cannot afford to be enemies of our own progress, we cannot afford to stand divided; it is too big a burden for this nation.� He said the people of this country had come a long way to weigh themselves down with pettiness, intolerance, and negativity, stating, �It is not a legacy that our forefathers left for us and it should not be the legacy that we leave for future generation.� �We are a great people and a great country and there is strength and dynamism in our diversity. We have every right to dream of greatness, progress and prosperity. �We have every right to envision the very best for ourselves. I know that together we can change this country, we can and we will,� President Mahama added. He expressed gratitude to the EC, the Ghana Peace Council and the media for ensuring peaceful elections and called for the support of all Ghanaians.
