Award winning Ghanaian broadcaster and host of � Ekwanso Brebre�, the late afternoon drive show on PEACE 104.3 FM, Fiifi Banson, last Saturday, December 15,2012 celebrated his 40th birthday with children on admission at the Saltpond Municipal Hospital in the Central Region. Fiifi who hails from Saltpond, also used the occasion to commission the renovated children�s ward of the hospital which he single-handedly rehabilitated and furnished with a flat screen TV set, refrigerator and other items, which are meant to offer some sort of comfort to the children and hospital staff. The toilets and bathroom facilities at the hospital were also rehabilitated. The ace radio presenter, whose drive-time programme was adjudged the CIMG Radio Programme of The Year 2010, has also adopted the children�s ward, with a promise to visit the children from time to time, not only to present them with items for their upkeep but also to ensure that the refurbished ward is kept in good shape always. It was all joy for the kids, their guardians, staff, as well as other members of the community as they fraternised and had photo sessions with their favourite celebrities who joined Fiifi to Saltpond for the big day. They included Nana Ama Mc Brown, Khareema Aguir, Rosalyn Ngissah, Vicky Zugah, Amanda Jissih, Eddie Nartey, Timothy Bentum, Mr. Beautiful, Roger Quartey,Funny Face and Micky Darling. Fiifi and his family also donated food items, drinks and toiletries worth several thousands of cedis to the children�s ward as a gesture to put smiles on the faces of the sick children and their guardians. Other departments of the hospital also had their fair share of the food items as well as a tour of the various wards by the celebrities. According to Fiifi Banson, he chose to spend his 40th birthday by renovating and adopting the children�s ward as a way of giving back to society and also putting smiles on the faces of the less privileged. �God has been so good to me over the years and this is the least l can also do for the less privileged in the society. I am so grateful to God for how far He has brought me. I am also grateful to companies and individuals who contributed in diverse ways towards the realization of my dream," He noted. Mrs Chawey, Deputy Director of Nursing Services who received the items on behalf of the hospital also thanked the radio presenter for his kind and generous gesture and called for more of such support from the public. The chiefs and people of the area were full of praise for Fiifi Banson and called on other influential indigenes of Saltpond to emulate his shining example.
