Police Stop NPP Protestors From Storming EC Office In Kumasi

The Police have prevented hundreds of supporters of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) from entering the regional office of the Electoral Commission in Kumasi where the party is on a demonstration over the election results. On reaching Adum, the protestors decided to veer off course and march to the regional EC office nearby but the police in a swift fashion prevented them from doing so fearing they might attack officials there. The NPP leadership led by National Chairman, Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, are in the Ashanti regional capital in a march against the results of the recent presidential elections which saw President Mahama emerging as the president-elect with a 50.07 percent of valid votes cast.
