Tony Aidoo Deserves Commendation

A leading member of Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom's Progressive Peoples Party (PPP) is full of praise for the Head of Monitoring and Evaluation Unit at the Presidency, Dr Tony Aidoo, for the wonderful job he did for his party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the strongroom of the Electoral Commission during the just gone-by general elections. Charles Owusu, who is a member of the PPP's Communications Team, believes the conduct of the former University lecturer in the strong room of the EC, contributed largely to the NDC's electoral fortunes. The EC's Operations Room, also known as the Strong Room, is where final collated results of an election is sent to by fax from all the coalition centres nationwide. Just like the polling stations and collation centres, there are representatives of all the political parties in the strong room to ensure that nothing untoward takes place. Charles Owusu, who represented the PPP in the strong room disclosed that most of the representatives from other political parties were fast asleep at some point in time with the exception of Dr. Tony Aidoo who stayed awake for two days before the EC officially declared the results. Speaking as a panelist on Peace FMs morning show, the PPP representative said: I have lots of respect for Tony Aidoo during this past election. Even though I dont like most of the things he says, he made me come to the realisation that elections are serious business. He taught me something in the strong room: at his age, he was able to stay awake in the strong room when even the young ones were sleeping like they were in their bedrooms. He was very vigilantand I salute him for that He also added that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have themselves to blame for losing the elections because they were not alert enough and attentive.
