The National House of Chiefs has called for a strong bond of unity among Ghanaians, irrespective of their tribal, political or religious affiliation, to help bring prosperity to the nation in 2013.
The house said the adage,"In unity lies strength", should manifest in the Christmas period and carry through the coming year.
In a Christmas and New Year message signed by the acting registrar of the house, Mr S. R. Takyi, the house said the significance of Christmas was that it was the revelation of God's love to mankind
"The message of Christmas, therefore, is love for our neighbours, love for our country and love which permeates all our activities and brings peace to our society," it said.
In a related development, the house has congratulated all the contesting political parties and, indeed, all Ghanaians on working to ensure the successful conduct of the December 7 elections.
A statement signed by the President of the house, Wulugu Naba Pugansoa Naa Prof John S. Nabila, said it was gratifying that both local and foreign observers testified to the peaceful and successful nature of the elections and went further to ask other African countries to emulate Ghana's example.
It, however, noted the unfortunate developments that followed the elections which created tension in the country.
"Nananom, as fathers of the nation, urge all parties concerned to resolve all outstanding disputes peacefully through established constitutional and legal procedures in an atmosphere free of recriminations, violence and intimidation," the statement said.
