George Bush Treated In Intensive Care Unit

FORMER US President George Bush senior was in intensive care last night with a serious fever. Mr Bush, 88, was moved into the specialist unit of the Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas, a month after being admitted with a bronchitis-like cough. His spokesman Jim McGrath said: �He�s had a series of setbacks that have landed him in the intensive care unit. �Doctors continue to be cautiously optimistic about the current course of treatment.� Mr Bush was admitted to hospital on November 23. It was hoped he would be home for Christmas. But he developed a fever and was moved into intensive care. He is now on a liquids-only diet. His spokesman added: �The President is alert and conversing with medical staff, and is surrounded by family.�
