NPP Wants Power-Sharing - Kwesi Pratt

The Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jr, has accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of scheming to incite insurgency in the country. The NPP led by its flagbearer in the last election, Nana Akufo-Addo, have accused the Electoral Commission and the National Democratic Congress of scheming to rig the elections. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, running-mate to Nana Akufo-Addo said their investigations show that President Mahama benefited from a million votes, which were wrongly added to his tally. They are therefore praying the Supreme Court to throw out the ECs declaration of President Mahama as the president-elect and to declare Nana Akufo-Addo as the president-elect. But according to Mr. Kwesi Pratt Jr., the sole objective of the NPPs case in court against the Electoral Commission and President-elect, John Mahama, is to create a chaotic atmosphere in the country that will enable them push for power sharing. Speaking as a panelist on Alhaji and Alhaji a current affairs programme on Radio Gold on Saturday, Mr Pratt said the leadership of the NPP is aware the case they have presented before the Supreme Court cannot stand the test of time but are counting on the ignorance of their supporters to create panic. I believe that finally the court would make its decision and it is becoming obvious that even when the court makes its decision, there are elements within the NPP who would not accept the decision, he averred. For me this is consistent with the suggestion that what the NPP really wants to do is to instigate the electorate for law and order to break down so that there will be so much mayhem in the country and so on, then as a result there could be some negotiation with [their] leaders, he added. Mr. Pratt however said their plan is going to fail because Ghanaians have seen through what he describes as the NPPs diabolic machinations. He added that the NPPs own organizations sloppiness and an inability to organize their supporters will be their undoing. He insisted all of us know that the results are credible and all of us are not going to be sitting around with our hands folded Those who caused the NPP to lose the election are in the NPP. They are close to Nana Akufo-Addo.
