Rawlingses Presence Made NDC Richer - Boakye Djan

Spokesperson of the defunct Armed Forces Revolutionary Council, Major (rtd.) Boakye Gyan has told XYZ News the presence of the Rawlingses at the inauguration of President Mahama on Tuesday guarantees the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) ten more years in government. Boakye Gyan who lost the NDCs Jaman South Parliamentary primary in 2011 told XYZ News the posture of the Rawlingses toward the President is a good sign for the NDC. The Rawlingses have been harsh critics of the party and its leadership, especially during the Presidency of late Prof Mills. Mr Rawlings started warming up to President Mahama a few months to the December 2012 elections. In the lead up to the elections, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings resigned from the NDC in an attempt to contest the Presidency on the ticket of a splinter party but to no avail. Her presence at the investiture has surprised some political observers but Major (rtd.) Boakye Gyan told XYZ News the NDC is a family which fights but easily makes up for the benefit of the sustenance of the entire group. There are a lot of people in the party who would have argued that Mahama shouldnt have even invited him to attend the ceremony. I think that would have been a wrong move, he said. He said President Mahama made the right choice to build a stronger bond with the former first couple because you dont build a family by confrontation. NDC is richer today with Mr. Rawlings and his wife being there yesterday than otherwise. Look at what happened to the other party. That is not something I would have wished to happen in the NDC, he said. Boakye Gyan said: As a family, we have all kinds of people in it, including Mr. Rawlings and his wife, who until they break the law are free to do what they want. Boakye Gyan described President Mahama as a good orchestra who knows how to call the tune.
