Executive Director of the Northern Youth for Peace and Development (NYUPED), Prince Hardi Adams has taken a swipe at the Editor-in-Chief of the Daily Searchlight Newspaper, Ken Kuranchie, for accusing President John Mahama of not regionally balancing his appointments. Contributing to Citi Fm�s weekend news analysis programme, The Big Issue, Ken Kuranchie admonished President Mahama to align his appointments with the constitutional provision which calls for regional balance. He advanced his argument by indicating that seven out of the first 15 appointees including Hon. Inusah Fuseini, Hon. Mahama Ayariga and Alhaji Collins Dauda were of Northern extraction. But in an interview, Prince Hardi Adams disagreed with Ken Kuranchie noting that the President deserved applause. �It is rather unfortunate that Mr. Ken Kuranchie is making this comment at this time and I don�t think there is anything wrong with the appointments made so far.� He noted the criticism was premature and called for support for the new appointees to function effectively in their roles. Prince Hardi described the President�s decision as a step in the right direction which could bridge the development disparities between northern and southern Ghana. He was however quick to advise President Mahama to pay no attention to former government appointees with questionable behavior. The Northern Youth for Peace and Development (NYUPED) has over the years criticized the Mills-Mahama led NDC administration over what they believed to be government�s failure to fulfill campaign promises to the people of Northern Ghana.
