NAGRAT Lauds Mahamas Choice For Minister For Education

The National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) has lauded the nomination of a former Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast; Professor Naana Opoku Agyeman as Minister designate for the Education Minister. President for the Association; Christian Addai Poku tells Citi News Professor Naana Opoku Agyeman is the finest, President Mahama could have appointed. He however said Prof. Jane Opoku Agyemang should draw from experiences as an educationist to transform the Ministry where many had failed. We believe that a lot of technocrats have come to the Ministry of Education as Ministers and they have not performed very well. Some politicians have come there and done better and we will want to see that Naana will change a lot of things and make sure that not only allowing analysis paralysis to overtake us but then in certain times, there should radical decisions taken to make sure that the right thing is done, he stated. Mr. Addai Poku further stated: We expect that she is going to have wider consultations when it comes to decision taking, making sure that the various stakeholders views are taken on board. In that case, she will get the support of everyone when policy is finally rolled out. If it doesnt happen that way and she feels she is a technocrat and therefore knows more than anybody, its going to be a problem but I know her very well and she would not go that way, he said. I expect that she will do better by widening the areas of consultations and making sure that advocacy and efficient mobilization is done properly so we get all stakeholders making sure the ministry moves forward, he added.
