Two National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidates (MPs) in the Central Region would soon face the full rigors of the law. The two are the parliamentary candidates for Mfantseman, Thomas Aquinas Tawiah Quansah and Foster Joseph Andoh who represented the people of Hemang Lower Denkyira Constituency as well as the Electoral Commission (EC). The petitioners were Stephen Asamoah Boateng and Lawrence Agyensem who contested the seats on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at Mfantseman and Hemang Lower Denkyira respectively. The two were dragged to a Cape Coast High Court presided over by Justice Beanuyena Benson. The counsel for the petitioners who were Egbert Faibille, Benjamin Barfo-Bonney and Michael Arthur Dadzie in their motion challenged the validity of the 2012 parliamentary elections declaring the two as the MPs in their areas. The Counsel said the second respondent gazzetted the results of the two MPs and supported their argument with section 18/2 of the Representative of the People�s Law PNDC LAW 1284. The judge ordered that the two MPs should be served through the speaker of parliament within seven days while the EC would also be served. The petitioners were ordered by Justice Benson to pay an amount of GH800 as a security cost. The whole court was filled to capacity when hundreds of supporters trooped in to give moral support to their various candidates.
