Lawyer Amaliba: I Never Said Justice Dotse Was An NPP Member

Lawyer Abraham Amaliba, a member of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) legal team has denied accusing Justice Dotse, a member of the panel of judges at the Supreme Court sitting on the election petition of being a member of the New Patriotic Party(NPP). Lawyer Amaliba has been accused of branding Justice Dotse to be an NPP member on an Accra based radio station, Joy FM, following the NPP's objection to one of the members of the panel of judges; Justice William Atuguba because he was connected to Dr. Raymond Atuguba; recently appointed as Executive Secretary to President John Mahama. Speaking in an interview on Peace FMs morning show programme kokrokoo, Lawyer Amaliba said: I indicated that all the justices are connected with one person or the other: Either you are a friend to somebody in the NDC or NPP...when it happens this way, it will be difficult to continue sitting and so we shouldnt go on that tangent. I never mentioned Justice Dotses name. He also complained of how this issue (NPP petition) which is currently in court is being discussed vehemently in the media. According to him discussions on the airwaves turn to scandalize and impugn upon the integrity of the Supreme Court. Whatever we say or discuss outside the court have the potential of affecting the decision making of the judges because they will take the mood of the society into consideration when making their judgments and so we should all refrain. he opined.
