NPP MP's Dont Have The Nation At Heart- Deputy Majority Leader Declares

The deputy majority leader in parliament and Member of Parliament for Ashaiman, Alfred Kwame Agbesi, has assured the general public that with or without the NPP MPs on the vetting committee, the majority in parliament can vet the ministerial appointees of President Mahama when they appear before the committee. Granting an interview to Alhassan Suhini on Radio Gold, Hon. Agbesi wondered why the NPP MPs would deliberately want to boycott the vetting process. They have been voted into parliament to perform works on behalf of their constituents and to perform work on behalf of the committee, why are they saying that they are not coming?...for me it is not a good thing to do at this time and if they have the interest of the nation at heart, they should come and do the work, he advised. This follows a statement signed by the Chairman of the NPP, Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey in which he clearly states that for the time being, the NPP would however not participate in any deliberations and decisions on matters which would evaporate upon cessation of John Mahamas administration. According to the party, the current John Mahama administration is temporary and transient and would not last beyond the determination of the case they have presented before the Supreme Court. But the deputy majority leader made it clear that the committee hadnt received any official notice from the leadership of the NPP informing the House of their decision not to partake in the process. He called on them(NPP) to rescind their decision if they truly had the nation at heart and join their colleagues to vet the presidential appointees.
