A Policy Analyst of the People's National Convention(PNC), Atik Mohammed has said he is not impressed with the ongoing vetting proceedings by the Appointments Committee of Parliament. The Appointments Committee of Parliament, chaired by Ebo Barton Odro, First Deputy Speaker of parliament and MP for Cape Coast North a few days ago, begun vetting the ministerial nominees appointed by President John Dramani Mahama. The nominees vetted on the first day were, Seth Terkpeh, Minister designate for the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning; Ms Hannah Tetteh, Minister designate for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Collins Dauda, Minister designate for Water Resources. The second day had Mahama Ayariga, Minister Designate for Information and Media Relations; Alhaji A. B. Fuseini, Minister designate for Lands and Natural Resources; Alhaji Amin Amidu Sulemani, Minister designate for Roads and Highways and Clement Kofi Humado, the nominee for Ministry of Food and Agriculture being vetted. Contributing to a panel discussion on Radio Gold�s current affairs programme, "Alhaji and Alhaji", Atik Mohammed said those who were vetted did not show any clear vision of what they would be bringing in board in their new ministries. He added that even though the nominees were going to represent the president, they must have their own personal vision and agenda as a drive for them to be able to work more efficiently in their various ministries assigned to them. "I think that with the vetting that have started, so far I feel deprived of the opportunity to know what the nominees are taking to their various ministries...you need to have an idea; I am going to this ministry, what are you going there to do?. It may well be the case that there are technocrats who will help you but your personal vision is what is of essence...so far I'm not very impressive about the vetting", he said. Meanwhile, Nana Oye Lithur, Minister designate for Gender, Children and Social Protection is scheduled to be vetted this week. The rest are Akwasi Oppong-Fosu, Minister designate for Local Government and Rural Development; Dr Omane Boamah, Communication; Prof Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, Minister designate for Education;Dr Oteng Agyei , Minister designate Environment, Science Technology and Innovation.
