The NDC Member of Parliament(MP)for Nantong, Murtala Mohammed,has asked Madam Ursula Owusu to be civil as an MP and also be careful of the way she conducts herself in the Parliament House. The public gallery of Parliament on tuesday witnessed hot exchanges of what people have described as �unparliamentary�, between two honourable Members of Parliament(MP); Madam Ursula Owusu, MP for Ablekuma West and Murtala Mohammed, MP for Nantong. Had it not been the timely intervention of some other MPs, it would have turned into a fist. Explaining his side of the story, Hon. Murtala said he only went to exchange pleasantries with Hon. Adwoa Sarfo, MP for Dome-Kwabenya when Ursula Owusu who was seated next to her immediately interjected their conversation accusing him of telling lies about her on Metro TV, an Accra based private television station. "You went on Metro TV and told lies about me, now people from the north are calling to threaten me,� he said, refering to Ursula Owusu. According to Hon. Murtala, Dr. Anthony Akoto Osei, NPP MP for Tafo/Pankrono, who was his co-panelist on Metro TV�s Good �Morning Ghana� programme, made a statement which sought to undermine the integrity of the people in the north. He condemned Dr. Akoto�s comment making reference to a similar one made by Madam Ursula Owusu; insisting that it was not the right way to comment about a brother. Speaking in an interview on Citi FM�s eye witness news on Tuesady, Hon. Murtala continued that Madam Ursula Owusu who was apparently not happy with what he said on Metro TV, started attacking him verbally. "When she started, everybody was surprised including Madam Adwoa Sarfo and so I realized that no, this lady must be tamed and so I told her to be a bit civil; I thought I was going to have a decent conversation with a lady, but unfortunately not. Probably she does that to other people and goes scot free. "If those were her intentions then I don�t know but I made it clear to her that if she brings it she will get twenty folds. You bring me one you will get twenty; so I made it clear to her that she needed to be civil,� he said. He denied using �unparliamentary� language to attack Ursula, adding; �she used �unparliamentary� language. I never used a single �unparliamentary� language. I only said she needed to be civil. Mine was just to admonish her and make her understand that she is a Member of Parliament and so should be careful of the way she conducts herself." When peacefmonline.com contacted Ursula Owusu, she refused to comment. According to her, she has resolved not to make a public statement on the issue.
