Black Stars Yellow Cards Wiped Out

Black Stars, like all the teams that have qualified, will play the quarter-finals of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with clean slates following the cancellation of the yellow cards their players received at the group stage. This means the Stars will face Cape Verde not worrying over losing more key players as the yellow cards that goalkeeper Fatau Dauda, defender John Paintsil, midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu, captain Asamoah Gyan, Rabiu Mohammed and Albert Adomah, received in their previous games will not count. This follows the implementation of the competition rules which state that all yellow cards received at the group stage encounters will not be carried over into the quarter-finals. This definitely serves a boost for the players as they psyche themselves up ahead of the quarter-final clash against the Cape Verde on Saturday. So far Mubarak Wukaso, who received two successive yellow cards in the games against DR Congo and Mali, is the only Ghanaian to have been suspended for a game the final group game against Niger at this competition.
