I Wasnt Born To Marry Ghanaian Actress

With her modest success in movies and in business, one would think that actress Florence Nana Anima Danso, aka Gawugatete, would be a satisfied family woman. But she is not. I am a simple woman who has made something out of my hard work. I have three shops, two in Kumasi and one in Accra, but I have not been fortunate with marriage because men who have come my way were after my money. Gawugatete told Showbiz last Saturday in Kumasi. According to Gawugatete who is in her late 40s, four men she got married to in the past all disappointed her claiming they were only out to chop her money. I think I wasnt born to get married. Four marriages and if all didnt work, then I do not see the need to get married anymore. Maybe God wishes it that way and He knows best, she said. Known for movies like Baffour, Agya Koo Azonto, Asantewaa and AbusuaKyirika, Gawugatete who started her acting career 25 years ago with Akan Drama on GTV and later with Cantata, is currently taking care of seven adopted children. Talking about her acting career, Gawugatete said she was comfortable playing any role given her but wished to play the role of a pastor which she has not played yet. Although I have tried different roles, I wish I can play a pastors role just for once. I am often given evil roles to play and though I am not complaining I wish producers would, for once, try me as a pastor she said. She said she was grateful to Nyankonton Films for receiving her back into movies after she fell sick for almost eight years. Gawugatete claims she went to different producers for roles after recovering from her sickness and was turned down but Nyankonton Films, knowing what she was capable of, put her back on track. Asked how she came by the name Gawugatete, she said Agya Koo named her Gawugatete after one famous Hearts player Eric Gawu and ever since her real name has been missing. Although many producers said that Gawugatete was gradually taking over from Kyiewaa in popularity, Gawugatete herself said she didnt see it that way. I trained Kyiewaa and I believe she is doing very well.
