Hearts of Oak Suspend Laryea Kingston Indefinitely

The Management of Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club Limited has decided to suspend midfielder Laryea Kingston indefinitely without pay. The decision, which takes immediate effect, follows an inquiry that corroborated the Club Accountantant's report that the player assaulted him in the full glare of supporters at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday 1st February, 2013 just after the Hearts-Apex F.C friendly match. BACKGROUND Somewhere in December last year, Laryea Kingston reportedly left for trials in Brunei without the club's blessing. Management got to know of his return on radio when he was reported to have participated in a charity match. The player continued to play truant throughout the month of December, missing the club's league matches against Medeama and King Faisal. In spite of this breach of discipline on the part of the player, the Club paid him his December salary. Unfortunately, Laryea Kingston took our leniency for a weakness and continued to stay away in January. Like the case in preseason, he missed the intensive beach and gym workouts during the mid-season Premier League break, having surfaced at the training ground as late as the 29th of January. Consequently, Management decided to withhold the player's January salary. The letter communicating the decision was signed by the Accountant and handed to him by same at the Accra Stadium. Laryea Kingston took offence and crumpling the letter, hit the Accountant with it on the upper chest and knocked it down his under-shirt through the neck hole. Subsequently, the player rained insults on the club official who was only performing a duty assigned him by Management. This incident happened in the full view of supporters of the club some of whom have, upon our request, corroborated the story. DISCIPLINARY ACTION In view of the above, and against the background of a similar act of gross insubordination towards then head coach C.K Akunnor at the preseason camp in Secondi which resulted in Laryea Kingston's suspension and subsequent pardon, Management has decided to impose an indefinite suspension without pay on the player Laryea Kingston. The player is further warned to abandon his disruptive behaviour or risk outright dismissal from the club.
