Mr. Ernest Kofi Owusu-Bempah, the communications director of the National Democratic Party and self-described aide to the NDP�s leader, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, has made his boss very angry and will no longer be allowed to represent the Rawlingses.
The young firebrand appears to have finally exhausted the patience of Mrs. Rawlings when he allegedly told a 'Let My Vote Count Alliance' (LMVCA) crowd in Accra that he was happy the New Patriotic Party had sent a petition against the 2012 election results to the Supreme Court and that the judges should be fair so that the unfortunate killing of judges was not revisited.
Mr. Owusu-Bempah is reported as saying, ��Some years back, revolution took place in Ghana. Some judges lost their lives. We hope our judges would learn from that.�
That statement and its implicit link with the Rawlingses have caused the former first couple great anguish. Former President Rawlings has reportedly called for an immediate dissociation of his family�s name from Owusu-Bempah�s threatening comments.
His official spokesperson, Mr. Kofi Adams, has been quick to dissociate his boss from Owusu-Bempah�s statement, saying that President Rawlings does not even know Owusu-Bempah very well.
He also indicated in an interview with The Finder newspaper that Owusu-Bempah�s days as Nana Konadu�s ventriloquist may fast be coming to an end. �I don�t know the action madam [Mrs. Rawlings] will take on his comments. I doubt whether she will endorse anybody threatening judges.�
Kofi Adams� assertions were reiterated by Mr. Owusu Bempah�s former political ally, Mr. Chris Dugan, who was the Brong Ahafo Regional Chairman of the Friends of Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings (FONKAR).
He challenged Owusu-Bempah�s identity as a representative of the Rawlingses in an interview with AGOO FM. �Owusu Bempah is an imposter. People like him who came from nowhere and [�] mount platforms to tell lies.�
�Rawlings does not know Owusu Bempah. Rawlings will describe Alhaji Mohammed Naziru, Saint Osei and Rashid in Kumasi to you. We have no problem with his [Owusu-Bempah�s] diabolic and NPP agenda. He should come out and tell us when and where he met Rawlings,� he said.
Dugan said he was disappointed in the security agencies for allowing �such a coward, a tiny creature, to make such wild allegations. He tells people that when they want him they should go to the Rawlings. We will not sit down for him to use Rawlings� name. He is accusing Jerry Rawlings of using people to kill the judges.�
