The Ghana Water Company has given the assurance that water supply will be restored by Saturday, February 16. According to the company, this is possible because it will start delivering 3.5 million gallons of water to consumers. The Ghana Water Company has been rationing water for a week due to the breakdown of four of its filters at the Weija treatment plant. Speaking on Eyewitness News on Wednesday, the Communications Manager of the company, Stanley Martey explained that his outfit had managed to complete repairs on the broken down filters ahead of schedule. �Hopefully by Saturday, we should put this filter back into operation and that will give us the additional 3.5 million gallons of water.� The Consumer Protection Agency has however questioned the move by the utility provider. Chief Executive Officer of the Agency, Kofi Kapito told Citi News: �The biggest problem in Ghana is the fact that we never thought about building another treatment plant or any other station. We have water being wasted between the Kpong water site and the water lake.� According to him, Ghana should not have any problem when it comes to water because �the issue is, we have failed as a nation to be forward thinking and forward planning as to what we need to do to get people of Ghana access to potable drinking water.�
