People of Ashanti asked to support new minister

Mr. William Kwame Fordjour, former Assembly member for Bomso, in the Ashanti Region, has asked the people to support the newly-appointed Regional Minister, Mr. Samuel Sarpong, to bring development to the area. He said: "the expectation is that the various business groups, religious and traditional organizations, as well as other identifiable institutions would join hands and together build a prosperous society". Mr. Sarpong was amongst the last batch of Ministers sworn-into office by the Presidency last week, after successifully undergoing the vetting by the Appointments Committee of Parliament. A statement signed by Mr. Fordjour, copied to the Ghana News Agency in Kumasi on Sunday, asked the people to be disciplined, patriotic and desist from politizing development projects. The statement appealed to the new Minister to remain focused and implement his plans to facilitate the development of the region. It noted that Mr. Sarpong as Municipal Chief Executive of Kumasi worked hard to improve the living conditions of the people. The statement asked Mr. Sarpong to be fair and firm in his decisions to develop the region to acceptable level.
