A 40-year-old man, Greeten Lobi, who allegedly stabbed another man to death over a woman in the Dormaa West District, is in the grip of the law. The suspect is alleged to have stabbed Yaw Dayira, 54, a farmer, at the palace of the Chief of Kwame Yeboahkrom after he (suspect) had been found guilty and fined GH�200 for snatching the deceased�s wife from him. Dayira was said to have lodged a complaint with the chief, Nana Ampabeng Kyeremeh, and his elders that Lobi had snatched his wife, Adwoa Ntugeni, with whom he had five children. Lobi was said to have stabbed Dayira in the abdomen at the chief's palace when a scuffle ensued between them after Dayira had been found guilty. The Dormaa Municipal Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mr Mahamud Yussif, who briefed the Daily Graphic in Dormaa Ahenkro yesterday, said the suspect was immediately arrested and handed over to the police. He said the suspect, who was put before the Dormaa Circuit Court on February 19, 2013, was remanded into prison custody to reappear on March 5, 2013. Mr Yussif said the police were awaiting an autopsy report from the Sunyani Regional Hospital for the docket to be submitted to the Attorney-General�s Office in Sunyani for advice. Giving a background to the incident, Mr Yussif said Ntugeni refused to return to Kwame Yeboahkrom after she and her husband had visited Sawla in the Northern Region. He said Dayira later had information that his wife had returned to Kwame Yeboahkrom but was putting up with the suspect. He said Dayira subsequently reported the conduct of his wife and the suspect to the chief and elders of Kwame Yeboahkrom According to Mr Yussif, the suspect allegedly confessed to living with Ntugeni when he was summoned before the elders at the chief's palace. He said the suspect allegedly explained that Dayira�s wife had told him (Lobi) that she and her husband had separated. After Lobi had been found guilty and fined GH�200 by the elders, he became furious and unceremoniously left the palace. Mr Yussif explained that a youth leader, Mr James Yeboah, persuaded the suspect to return to the palace for the issue to be completely resolved. He said at that point a quarrel ensued between Dayira and the suspect, in the course of which Lobi allegedly stabbed Dayira in the abdomen. Mr Yussif said Dayira died at the Sunyani Regional Hospital after he had been referred to the hospital by the Dormaa Ahenkro Presbyterian Hospital.
