Mr. Bede Ziedeng, the Upper West regional Minister, has called for support and cooperation from heads of departments and agencies in the Region to enable him make the needed impact on the lives of the people in the Region. He stated that for him to succeed, technocrats from the various departments and agencies must put their shoulders to the wheel to turn things around. Mr. Ziedeng made the call at his maiden meeting with heads of departments in the region. �The development of the Region is the prime assignment given me by His Excellency the President, but I can certainly not do it alone without your ultimate support,� he said. Mr. Ziedeng appealed to the heads of departments to set and maintain ethical standards so as to help achieve the objective of developing the Region. He urged them to discharge their duties to the best of their abilities without clouding their actions with political considerations. Mr. Ziedeng stated that regular meetings of heads of departments would be instituted by the Regional Coordinating Council at which all the departments would give presentations on their activities and challenges. Arrangements he said would also be made for development partners and NGO�s operating in the Region to brief the RCC on regular basis about their plans and programmes in the Region. He called on the heads of departments not to down play the importance of national events by staying away or embarking on private journeys. �I want to urge you all to accord national events the necessary and desired importance .The Independence day Celebration is just a few days away and I expect everyone to participate in the activity and all such future events such as the May Day, Republic Day , Farmers Day and so forth, � he said.
