The Consumer Protection Agency in Ghana has demanded an apology from the organizers of the Hope City Launch concert, Charter House, for displaying a �woman beater� on stage to offend the sensibilities of Ghanaians. Chief Executive Officer of the Consumer Protection Agency, Kofi Kapito slammed the promoters of the concert and demanded that they apologize to RLG, headline sponsor of the Hope City show, and the Presidency as a result of Chris Brown�s conduct on the eve of Independence Day. �I think they (Charter House) need to render an apology to anybody who was in that stadium, apologize to RLG; the main organizer or the sponsor. If I am the owner of RLG, I will demand a lot from Charter House. I will tell them to apologize to the Management and the Chief Executive of RLG, write a letter to the President of Ghana and then apologize entirely to the people of Ghana; not just in Ghana but abroad,� he said. March 5, 2013 saw huge numbers of music fans troop to the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium to witness electrifying performance from their American icon, Chris Brown, also known as �Breezy� in the music fraternity. Though Chris Brown thrilled the audience to their feet for hours, he made sure his departure from the nation would be one to be remembered. Half way through his performances, Chris Breezy pulled a �stub�, set fire to it and smoked it in the full glare of over 15000 music fans. His conduct has since been at the centre of controversy in the country, leaving some leaders to wonder why such activity could go unpunished. Mr. Kofi Kapito speaking in an interview with Peacefmonline.com shared similar sentiments, calling on all Ghanaians to name and shame the use of marijuana. He also chided the audience, who he believed a number of them were parents, for not condemning the conduct by the American R&B star since they would have reprimanded their children if they had used vulgar language as Chris Brown did. �If Chris Brown cannot do that anywhere in America, I don�t understand why we, Ghanaians, should entertain such artiste in our country. And they saw black American kid come to Ghana and decide to first of all disobey our laws�� he blurted. He explained that the mere possession of marijuana in the country is an offence to the laws of the country and was therefore disgusted that Chris Breezy could bluntly display it without any sanction. Alluding to a similar incident involving Ghanaian Rapper Wanlov the Kubolor, Kofi Kapito charged the State authorities to report Chris Brown�s conduct to the American Embassy warning foreign artistes not to violate the laws of the land. He therefore categorically called for the Management of Chris Brown to render an apology to the Republic of Ghana. According to him; �that Chris boy shouldn�t have been in Ghana at all for the fact that his reputation in America is not that good�, adding that �It�s a double standard and we should be ashamed of ourselves as Ghanaians. If you ask me I think the Management of Chris Brown should write an apology to the Republic of Ghana because this is in celebration of our independence day. The man came and disrespected our independence day.�
