NPP MP: Successive Govts. Have Made Nkrumah Important Because They Have Failed Woefully

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ahafo-Ano South Constituency, Hon. Stephen Kwaku Balado Manu has stated that Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah has remained relevant in the discussion of the development of Ghana because all other administrations have failed to do better. if I am to sum up in one sentence, I would say that, Nkrumah is so important today because governments after Nkrumah have failed this Nation so well. If governments of this country after Nkrumah had done good roads, we would not always be referring to Tema motorway as a bench mark for all roads, he argued. The MP for Ahafo-Ano South made these statements during a political talk show program on Citi FM in Accra during the discussion on the gains Ghana has had over the fifty-six years of Independence from colonial rule. Hon. Balado Manu was of the view that subsequent governments after Dr. Kwame Nkrumah have not done well to develop and bring the economy to an appreciable level and explains our heavy reliance on the infrastructure established by Ghanas First President. The legislator and educationist maintained that, leaders after Nkrumah have not been successful with respect to the development of Ghana and have therefore failed the Nation in this regard. According to him, Nkrumahs infrastructural projects like the Akosombo hydroelectric Dam and other major projects he embarked on were supposed to the starting point of the developmental process of the country. However, he quickly stated that Dr. Nkrumah is not mentioned when it comes to democracy and human rights because successive governments have done better in the area than the Nkrumah regime. Why is it that we dont talk about Nkrumah when it comes to areas of democracy is it because subsequent governments have done something in that area that has supersede him. So when we are talking about freedom, human rights and those things, we dont mention his name. We continue to mention Nkrumah when it comes to energy; Akosombo Dam, because we have never done anything in that area, Hon. Balado Manu claimed.
