Napo: NDC Govt Is Deliberately Collapsing NHIS And Squandering Their Profits Big Time!

Member of Parliament for Manhyia constituency, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempah, has saddled the NDC with blames of deliberately collapsing the National Health Insurance Scheme and showing no mercy when it comes to spending the little profits the scheme rakes in. According to Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempah, the NHIS as it stands now is on its knees and has failed to be useful under the watch of the National Democratic Congress. His comment is borne out of the decision by the Christian Health Association (CHA) to revert to the cash and carry system because of governments inability to offset its long standing debts the unit offered to NHIS card bearers. The Manhyia MP declared on Okay FMs "Ade Akye Abia" show that the current NDC administration, didnt care about the plight of the ordinary Ghanaian and if that has been the case; they would have addressed the matter in 2012 when the NPP talked about how senile the scheme had become. Before we visited the polls last year, the NPP raised series of concerns about the way the NDC had badly handled the scheme. We prompted the government to keep an eye on the scheme before things could grow worse. All this came about because when we carefully studied the NHIA records, we realized that they have been boring all the time to do their work. We werent pushed to say it because we had some bitterness in us, we said it because it was a scheme started by the NPP and we only wanted government to invest into the scheme and give it sufficient money to make it function properly, he revealed. Dr. Opoku Prempah further blamed the NDC for attaching politics to social intervention programs and always being on the defensive mode to jump unto anybody who criticizes them for failing. To be honest, there is no money government has allocated to help the scheme get back to its feet and the little they should receive, government flouts the law, collects their money and squander it, he claimed.
