Sekou Nkrumah: Prez Mahama Should Resign Or

Son of Ghana's first President, Sekou Nkrumah has made a fervent call on President John Dramani Mahama to step down if his leadership does not provide alternatives to the challenges confronting the country. According to him, President Mahama should resign as Head of State should he not step up his game to ensure a robust economy. He noted that the Mahama-led NDC government has performed abysmally and so, called on the President to show some Ministers the exit from his government if they fail to execute their duties effectively. Reacting to President Mahamas first reshuffle of his cabinet Ministers, Sekou Nkrumah told Peacefmonline.com on Tuesday that President Mahama seems not to know what he is about. He doesnt make up his mind. Time is going and the performance is not good enoughThat means the quality of life is rather becoming worse. He doubted the competence of the incumbent government, alluding to previous performances of the NDC since 1981 and therefore expressed disgust about political leaders who fail to fulfill their manifesto promises. Speaking in an interview with Peacefmonline.com, he stated emphatically that President John Mahama should resign if he cannot carry the mantle of the leadership given him by the electorates. He, himself, if at some point; the performance continues to be poor, then he should also resignif you are given a job and you are not doing the job well, then you need to resign and let somebody go and do the job better. The Ghanaian electorate is becoming too lenient with the politicians. I think its time we all put pressure on them to perform. We vote them into power so that they serve our interest. And if they are incapable of serving our interest, then they should be voted out. But even when the time, (of course, with every four years, we have elections) but if you are performing so poorlyThen, i think you should resign. he addressed his concerns to the President. To him, the reshuffle of Ministers is not the solution to the current economic crises but rather an industrious government. He explained that when electorates vote for a government, we vote for leadership, so if he (President Mahama) comes to power and then makes our life worse off than before. I think this is unacceptable. So, the issue is that whether he changes Ministers; reshuffles them, what we want is performance. He however appealed to President Mahama to put his words into action in order to resolve the challenges in the country.
