Police Launch Investigation Into Fire Incident At Kuffour Plaza

The Police have launched investigations into the fire incident at the Abena Atea Towers, located on the Ring Road Central, and owned by ex-Black Stars defender Samuel Osei Kufour. The seven-storey building which houses several businesses including banks, saw the third floor christened �Academic City� and housing Sikkim Manipal University and NIIT, a computer training institute was engulfed by fire in the early hours of Tuesday. The conflagration drew scores of passer-byes to the scene before personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) rushed over to control it after some initial struggles. Properties worth thousands of cedis were destroyed but officials are still at sea regarding the cause of the blazing to the facility which overlooks that part of the capital. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Freeman Tettey, Greater Accra Regional Police Public Relations Officer told the media at the scene that investigations into the incident will start immediately. The Police are expected to team up with their counterparts from the GNFS to establish the cause fire. Kufour, a regular pundit on South African pay-tv outfit, SuperSport was not readily available for comment.
