Peter Zwennes, President of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) has pledged commitment to re-positioning Ghana boxing back to its glory days. The lawyer, elected to the presidency of the GBA at its General Assembly on Thursday told GNA Sports that he will work in collaboration with the various stakeholders to uplift the image of the sport, currently in an unfamiliar state. Zwennes, one-time Vice Chairman of the GBA, who doubles as the National Secretary of the Ghana Bar Association fended off competition from Henry Maly-Spain and Frnacis Decland to claim the topmost seat. He polled 56 votes, against 35 and 4 by Manly-Spain and Decland in the first ever elective General Assembly of the association. �I want to thank all the delegates for the confidence reposed in me. I also thanked my opponents for the healthy competition and promise to consult and avail myself at all times. �I appeal to all to bury our differences and forge ahead for the upliftment, development and promotion of the sport. I promised to work hard in the interest of Ghana boxing.� Zwennes will serve on the Executive Board alongside Reginald Nii Hansen Thompson (First Viice President), Rabone Dodoo (Second Vice President), Fred Ghartey (Treasurer) and the trio of Alahji Taufik Muntala, Dr Samuel Quaye and Isaac Kweku Grantson for a four-year term.
