Hon. Ibrahim Mutarla Mohammed, Member of Parliament (MP) for Nanton has stated that, the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Lawyer Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie aka Sir John must not be given prominence by the media because he is an apology of a General Secretary. The Law maker from Nanton made this statement in an interview with Peacefmonline.com after the New Patriotic Party (NPP) General Secretary alleged that the President was behind the near fatal accident involving the 2012 NPP Presidential running mate to Nana Akufo-Addo on the Bole Bamboi road in the Northern Region on Sunday. The Economist and former Governor of the Bank of Ghana, was flown to Accra and received treatment at the Lister Hospital after which he was discharged. Sir John believes there is more to the accident and therefore has called on President Mahama to come and exonerate himself if he is indeed innocent of the charges being leveled against him. However, Hon. Mutarla Mohammed disagrees with this assertion because the �fact that the accident occurred in the Presidents home town, does not mean the President has a hand in it. Is he telling us that they (the NPP) were behind the accidents former President Mills was involved in during his campaign�? What kind of logic is this? he questioned. He further explained to Peacefmonline.com that Ghana is a very decent country and should therefore not tolerate utterances that have no evidential backing such as that of NPP scribe, Sir John. He added that; such statements should not be tolerated and in his view should not be given prominence by the media.
