I have learnt with disappointment and shame the serious criminal conduct of one Mr. Kwodwo Owusu Afriyie, popularly known as Sir John and the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party. As a professional lawyer, Mr. Owusu Afriyie ought to know that he has no authority or power to cause the removal of an accident vehicle without recourse to the police from an accident scene. By causing the removal of the vehicle in the middle of the night as it is being alleged, Mr. Owusu Afriyie has thereby tempered with very vital primary evidence that could have assisted the police to determine the real cause of the accident involving no less a person than Dr Mahamudu Bawumia the former Deputy Governor of Bank of Ghana and the running mate of the biggest opposition party in Ghana. 1. What does, Mr. Owusu want to hide from the police and the general public? 2. What did he know about the accident; especially what caused the two brand new tyres of a Toyota Land cruiser to bust simultaneously or concurrently and thereby causing the near death of such a prominent member of society? 3. What evidence has he gathered since causing the removal of the accident vehicle from the accident scene that leads to his conclusion that it was the NDC that planned the assassination of Dr. Bawumia? This is a grievous criminal conduct and an abuse of our motor traffic laws, and I hereby call on the police to immediately arrest the said Mr. Kwodwo Owusu Afriyie and take immediate possession of the vehicle for proper and lawful investigation. I intensely smell foul play in the attempted murder of such a prominent person, and the concealment of crime by the said Kwodwo Owusu Afriyie. This matter is of a great importance and should not be trivialized and politicized. I simply do not accept the position of Mr. Asiedu Nketiah the General Secretary of the NDC that since Mr. Owusu Afriyie has penchant for comic reliefs, this should also be regarded as such. I strongly disagree with this position because even if Mr. Owusu Afriyie has taken a knighthood for being the best political clown of the country, he cannot be allowed to create jester with the life of such an important personality. What legal basis or evidence has Mr. Owusu Afriyie gathered to accuse NDC or anybody for attempting to assassinate Dr. Bawumia? There are many questions to be answered by Mr. Kwojwo Owusu Afriyie in connection with the accident. The police must act very swiftly to get to the bottom of it. Ghana is not all about politics, criminals should not be allowed under the banner and colours of political parties to evade justice. Ghana deserves better. Thank you.
