75-Year-Old Man Burns Wife To Death

A 75-year-old retired teacher is currently on the run, after allegedly setting fire to his 55-year-old wife, killing her in the process. Mad. Grace suffered the torrid experience before giving up the ghost, after her husband allegedly poured petrol over her, and set her ablaze on Thursday, at Afrancho-Bronkron, in the Afigya-Kwabre District of the Ashanti Region. Neighbours heard loud distressed screams coming from the house of the couple, who live together with four other children, but could not arrive there on time to save the poor mother, who was found completely burnt, from head to toe. The suspect, who has since gone into hiding and is currently being pursued, was allegedly heard a day before the incident, singing and threatening that something bad was going to happen. According to an eyewitness, Douglas Owusu, the suspect constantly picked on his poor wife at the least provocation, and would always accuse her of being responsible for any mishap that occurred in the family. He said taking cognizance of the nature of the suspect, who despite his fragile age is alleged to be involved in all forms of social vices, including wee smoking, the neighbours did not give any particular attention to the threat, not knowing he had something sinister up his sleeves. Douglas told The Chronicle that on Thursday night, they heard loud screams from the house of the couple, but when they got there, they found the burnt body of Grace lying on the floor, with her husband nowhere in sight. He said Grace could only utter a few words before giving up the ghost whilst being rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH). Douglas said the neighbours combed around the area searching for the suspect, but could not trace his whereabouts, though information available to them indicated that Agya Fosu left the house almost naked, wearing only underwear. The incident, according to the eyewitness, had sent waves of shock amongst residents of the quiet community, located close to Bremang in the Suame constituency.
