Barclays Bank MD Benjamin Debrah Resigns

Managing Director of Barclays Bank Ghana, Benjamin Dabrah has resigned. Mr. Dabrah�s resignation will take effect from June this year. According to a statement from the bank, Mr. Dabrah who joined Barclays in November 2008 is leaving the bank to pursue other interests. However, XYZ BUSINESS learnt Mr. Dabrah will be taking another top position outside the country. Commenting on the development, Barclays Africa Chief Administrative Officer Adan Mohamed said: "Ben has played a critical role in leading our business in Ghana during the last four years, having assumed the MD role at a point when the business was facing difficult times. He is leaving us at a point where the business is in good shape and on a sustainable profit growth trajectory. Together with his leadership team, he has built a strong business for which the bank got recognised through many external awards." Mr Mohamed reiterated that Ghana remained an important business to the Barclays Africa One Africa strategy and that the bank was confident that the leadership team would continue on the great success story they had all been proudly part of to make Barclays the most profitable bank in Ghana in 2011. He added: "We would like to take this opportunity to thank Ben for the positive contribution he has made to our Ghana business since becoming MD in November 2008 and wish him all the best in his future endeavours". His successor will be announced in due course.
